Pretzel Sticks

This recipe is a fun way to make breakfast on a weekend. Our kids like getting to roll the dough between their hands to make the bread sticks.

(This recipe works almost as well egg-free. Replace the egg used in the dough with 2 Tbsp olive oil. With no egg glaze brushed on top of the bread sticks dry toppings will not adhere as well but still do okay.)

Start by mixing together:

After mixing add:

Then, in a measuring cup, combine:

Mix everything together until the dough is smooth. It should not be sticky (add more flour mix) or powdery (add more water).

To help toppings stick, in a small bowl, beat:

We cook these on a griddle. Oil the griddle. Roll the dough between your hands to make bread sticks. Then brush the tops with the beaten egg and sprinkle with toppings (coarse salt, cheese, garlic, cinnamon, sugar, sesame seeds, etc.). Cover with aluminum foil to help cook evenly.

(If you want to use an oven instead, bake at 400 degrees for 12-15 minutes.)
