Innsbruck, Austria
Innsbruck provided yet more opportunity to photograph the mountainous Austrian Alps. This time the view required three photographs.

In Innsbruck there are many clock towers. But the town is in a valley with extraodinarily steep, tall mountains that can be seen above and between the four- and five-story buildings as we walk around town. The clocks and mountains argue in my head, about if what time it is matters.
My sickness is nearly gone today - I can swallow fine and feel more lively. Do I want my appetite back?
Yesterday I slept through lunch. Today lunch was included with the tour. The melon is becoming a souvenir, Venice to Vienna and onwards (It's already crossed three borders).
With the mountains so close on many sides, Innsbruck has no sunset. Just a dimming, and a fading into black of the layered and shaded mountainsides.
Diary--July 13th, 1994
Today in Innsbruck we saw an arch the Hapsburg empress Maria Theresia built in memory of her husband Leopold. She built these all over Austria. As our guide said, "he died at a young age... she loved him very much... they had thirteen children." We also saw the golden roof Frederick the Penniless built with the last of his money to dispell his reputation and nickname.
